Exercise your Senses.

When God created us, he knew that we would need conscious awareness, to be able to understand what is going on around us, so He gave us the five senses.

These are: - See, Hear, Taste, Touch and Smell.

This topic is usually covered in a biology class, but we shall look at it from the spiritual angle.

Each of these senses are extremely important it their own right, however, they are reliant upon each other to fulfil their purpose perfectly.  When one of the senses is impaired, often another one is improved in its function.  For example, when someone has hearing problems, their eyes often become more accurate and acute, being able to sense by sight, rather than sound, situations around them.

Let us start at the only place possible, to get everything in its rightful order.

See.  “But we see Jesus.”  Hebrews 2:9.  Keep your eyes firmly fixed on Him and you have divine protection.

With our eyes firmly fixed on Jesus, we can experience Exodus 16:7, “And in the morning, then ye shall see the glory of the Lord.”

Hear.  “Today, if you will hear His voice.” Hebrews 3:15.

“He that hath an ear let him hear.”

This is repeated 7 times in Revelation 2 & 3.

Taste.  “How sweet are thy words unto my taste, yea sweeter than honey to my mouth.”  Psalm 119:103.

“O, taste and see, that the Lord is good, blessed is the man that trusteth in Him.”

Psalm 34:8.

Touch.  Mark 6:56.  “And whithersoever He entered, into villages, or cities, or country, they laid the sick in the streets, and besought him that they might touch if it were but the border of his garment: and as many as touched him were made whole.”

1 Chronicles 16:22 & Psalm 105:15.  “Touch not mine anointed.”  Yet again, divine protection.

Smell.  Philippians 4:18.  “But I have all, and abound: I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things that were sent from you, an odour of sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.”

Divine protection again is encountered in Job 39:25.  “He saith among the trumpets, Ha, Ha; and he smelleth the battle afar off, the thunder of the captains, and the shouting.”

Put these senses all together, and they give us full awareness of all what is going on around us, within the spiritual realm.  We need to have our senses exercised in order to be able to discern both good and evil.  Hebrews 5:14.

Praise His Name.
